Your Will Be Done On Earth As It Is In Heaven

“Your Kingdom come. Your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.”
Many of us say this part of the Lord’s prayer not fully appreciating the full gravity of it’s meaning. And yes, I was one of them. I remember when I was younger, in Sunday School, the teacher explained to us the Lord’s Prayer. But like most things when you are a child, I accepted the explanation without fully questioning it.
Over the years, especially during the period where I took it upon myself to learn the bible outside of the church, I somewhat have a better understanding of the Lord’s Prayer, especially this part. It wasn't until I discovered the Law of Correspondence that I realised that this is fundamentally the most important part of the Lord’s Prayer. In fact, I’d argue that after the Law of Cause and Effect, this is the second most powerful law in the universe.
My understanding of this law is that heaven is not a physical place. “Heaven” is the place where the spirit lives. Heaven is the spiritual realm so to say. Over the years, my own personal study of the Bible has led me to believe that Heaven (or Hell) exists within a person. More accurately, variants of Heaven and Hell exist within our bodies and when we die, we will transcend into another form of Heaven or Hell.
But remember, God is not mocked, you reap what you sow. This is the most important law in the universe. This is the law of Cause and Effect. God is not mocked. You can go to church every single Sunday but if your actions outside of church are not that of a church-goer, you will reap what you sow. It is like a person who plants weeds all over the garden but because they have that single rose, they’ll believe their garden is beautiful. No, God is not mocked, you reap what you sow.
So with that said, where do we actually sow? Where is this sowing happening? Jesus tells us that where a man’s heart is, there he will find his treasure. The heart is not your actual heart, I think we can agree on this. The heart in many religions, equates to your feelings and emotions. And this is important to note because before saying that, Christ says that we should not store our treasures on Earth but in Heaven.
And this is where lies my understanding of “Your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven”. This is how the Law of Correspondence works. You see, Heaven is the inner you. And Earth is the world outside of you. So what will happen outside of you is merely a reflection of what’s happening inside of you.
Most of us want love, happiness and peace. This is something almost everyone desires. But not everyone attains. Because in most cases, we do not have that love, happiness and peace within ourselves.
This made me remember a girl I once dated. She, like most of us, wanted love and peace. She explained that she was at a stage in her life where that was all that she wanted. But I remember how she was never truly at peace. She would be annoyed by anything. And I mean anything! If it was a cold day, she would be annoyed. If it was a hot day, she would be annoyed. Her life was filled with so much drama that it made it impossible for her to find love, happiness and peace.
And I only realise now that the true reason for that consistent drama in her life was because her inner self was in great turmoil. She had an inner Hell than Heaven. And the sad part, she was not doing anything to change it.
Yes, when one is going through a dark Winter, it can be difficult to see the light. This is true. However, I have had the privilege to meet people who have experienced the most tragic of events but still find a reason to smile. And because of them finding that reason, they radiate that vibe of hope, love, peace and feel-good vibes. Indeed I have met people who when they share their stories, you cannot help but cry. And not because of what they went through, but because of their strength to overcome it.
Unlike my ex-girlfriend who was content with the doom and gloom of her existence. And I’m a bigger believer in the power of influence. Where two or three are gathered, surely I’m with them. That was Christ teaching us the Law of Collectivism that where two or three people are met, whatever unites them will manifest. That was Christ teaching us that birds of the same feather flock together.
Indeed, after breaking up with that girl, that drama left me too. I was less annoyed by the world. Her disruptive nature no longer clouded mine. And it all goes back to that fundamental law hidden in plain sight in the Lord’s Prayer.
That which we seek, we can find it within ourselves. It merely requires we do the consistent inner work. The inner work like writing in a journal. The inner work like going for long walks or deep meditation to be alone with your mind and heart. The inner work of doing what I call a friendship audit, where you objectively analyse the values of certain friendships. Trust me, I have cut down so many people I called friends and it is truly amazing how happier one is now!
It is indeed important for us to take inventory of our inner self because the inner self is the one that creates the world we live in. As above, so below. As in Heaven, so on Earth. And remember, God is not mocked, we reap what we sow. So it is upon us to carefully sow the seeds that we want to reap.
You know, one has learnt that you can plant a seed. And that seed will germinate and begin to grow. But along the way, that seed might die. When that you planted was from your heart, that which Christ mentions, the death of that seed is not as painful as you’d imagine. Instead, you’ll be filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude.
It is like breaking up with a girl that you really loved. She might leave you for her own reasons. But because you know you gave nothing but love, that break up will hurt but you’ll be filled with an appreciation of love. That appreciation of, you know what love feels like. Unlike breaking up with a girl you loved for the wrong reasons. In most cases, those are the painful breakups that just hurt or they feel like a great relief.
And all because God is not mocked, you will reap what you sow. And that which you sow is inside your heart, your heavenly realm. And that which is in your heavenly realm will manifest in the world outside. That's the true meaning of Your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
