A Glimpse of Heaven.

Writer's picture: Thando XabaThando Xaba

A glimpse of heaven. Ever since he saw her in class, he has been smitten by her. He wonders if she saw what he saw. When she looked at the mirror in the morning, did she see what he saw? Every time she laid her head to sleep, did she know she teleported into his dreams? To become a ghost to haunt him in his sleep and wake?

Her eyes were gems bearing the portal to another world. Another world where Salvador’s clocks tick. Another world where Eve eats the apple but remains in Eden. A world where her ghost is blood and bones. A world where he wished to live in.

Did she see the same goddess that he saw? What he saw was the blossoming of a thornless rose. Her lips were plush like the petals of a red lily in Spring. Stargazed as he looked at her.

He would linger on the sweet nectar of her kiss. A kiss he had only tasted when she visits him in his slumber. So sensational was her kiss that it materialised into the living world. He could feel it tantalise his lips.

In class, he sat looking at her while she gracefully listened to the lecturer. Her hair flowed along her meticulously contoured face. Her rich chocolate skin bearing unknown pleasures, the longing to discover them plunging him into trances that even bewildered the gods. She must have been the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. No, she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. He looked at her wishing not only to be the most beautiful woman he has ever seen, but to be the most beautiful woman he had ever felt.

She was a glimpse of heaven. He was ready to die to live in her arms.
